О курсе
This course is intended to introduce students to the history of the book as a physical object, beginning with scrolls of ancient papyrus and ending with late Medieval manuscripts on parchment. The students will learn about the evolution of the physical form of the book and the methods of its production.
The role of scribes, monasteries, libraries, book collectors and the trade in books will be discussed.
